Re: Finally had it with Pyro.
Kenny I am a scientist not a photographer. I am a manufacturer not a experimenter. What scientific information would you like to know about your "brew?" I don't need the "brew" because I would rather look at a 1 liter mix and a 21 step wedge of the curve produced on a TriX or HP5...

I try not to be too demonstrative about Clayton Products when making comments in these formats but; you mention Clayton Developer, F 76+, as one you might try. I will tell you that, without exception, it has the versitility to meet any condition or application you would require. We recommend it for ...

Re: Which "Salt or Pot ash" to use
Because i have nothing else to do this AM (1-3-14), I reviewed my four largest selling, in volume, developers. In the powder and print developers, we use the "salt" to protect the HQ, in the high concentrate, high pH, liquid developers, we use all meta and no salt. It is there for pH buffe...

Yes Keith, the metabi is for ph control. Most modern formulas do contain both especially in machine processing.

Re: Which "Salt or Pot ash" to use
Hello
There is a considerable difference between the two, Sodium or Potassium Meta bisulfite and Sodium sulfite. The first two are interchangeable with some adjustment for molecular weight difference and the "salt" is a preservative or oxygen scavenger.

Re: Good News for Analogue Photography.
I have to agree. Our B & W photographic chemistry business is growing at a rate that I have not seen for several years.
It is probablly because we make GREAT products that have a high user value and the lack of suppliers that can compete with us at this level.

Re: Chrystalized fix from Tetenal kit: had luck dissolving i
The fixer is old. It has crystalized because the pH has changed to the point that the sulfur drops out. It will not go back into solution. You can do the film test to see if the fixer will still clear film. You will need to filter the fixer concentrate before using. BUY NEW FIXER.

Re: WARM TONE PRINT DEVELOPER
Certainly the most influential aspect of tone is the "color" of the base. I have found, and it is well documented, that the type of antifog is also influential in the tone. They can be and are more than subtle.

Kieth: Profitability is determined by the difference in the cost of manufacturing and the demand of the market. Not the cost difference between M & P. For example; when the Doctor's waiting room is full and he has no more time to see any more patients he will raise his price. His cost of doing b...

Re: Hydroquinone with Metol and Phenidone.
The cost of P & M is high, but as compared to what? When you compare the cost of P to M, since P is 25 times stronger than M you will use much less than M in the formula. The rational for this is the discussion point of P vs. M is, Catylist Vs. Salt., Scale Vs. Contrast and speed or type of proc...

Re: Hydroquinone with Metol and Phenidone.
"The underlined statement" was my way of describing the action of a catylist forthe chemically handicapped. P will work as long as there is available HQ. At some point the concentration of HQ does become problematic, slide into the ocean. M froms a salt with HQ and is done, drop in the oce...
