Re: New Fuji Acros II Film.

wouldn't a 400 speed film underexposed by one stop give finer grain than 3200 exposed at 800?

Re: New Fuji Acros II Film.

Never tested Neopan 400 for true speed, but exposed at 400, both 35 and 120, it always met my needs. If exposed at true 800, wouldn't a Neopan, UFX 400, Pancro 400, or HP5+ give a finer grain, if appropriately processed? I know the "pushed film drill," but an approximate one stop under isn't that mu...

Re: New Fuji Acros II Film.

Don't really understand why 3200 was brought back. By my estimation, that is really really a niche film. Have not read very much about the new incarnation, but would hope that it is significantly changed from the old. Anyway, I doubt that I will ever get to try as my photography has drastically tape...

Re: New Fuji Acros II Film.

Granted, Acros did have some favorable characteristics going for it, probably the one most appreciated was its reciprocity, favored by low-lite shooters. Also, fine grain. Many 400-speed films today, including Neopan 400, if handled correctly, could almost equal Acros in apparent grain. There are qu...

Re: New Fuji Acros II Film.

Didn't use a lot of it, but never could get a handle on it. Did use a lot of Neopan 400. Would certainly welcome its return rather than Acros.

Re: measuring spoon method

Keith:
You are probably right; I do like to dable now and then, but I have found few formulae to be as consistently "right" as D-76. So, I did go with D-76 spooned.
Thanx

measuring spoon method

Occasionally, I will mix my own film developers, not that I can't afford to by ready-mixed, but because I enjoy doing it, and it adds to the personal involvement in the production of the end product, the photograph. I have a formula for Adox borax MQ developer. I would like to mix up this concoction...

Re: Is my Microphen formula correct?

not that it is relevant at this point, but I went back through my collection of formulas, and I found a page that I had torn out of Peterson's Photographic, Feb. 1976, "Technical Index Sheet," by Perry C. Yob. He gives what he calls a substitute formula for Microphen, and also a replenisher. His for...

Re: Agfa APX100 pushed to 400 in d76

Before Ornie jumps in to tell you to throw your film away, it's ruined, film cannot be "pushed", I would suggest that you do either a clip test or shoot another roll at same ei. I can't remember ever using Apx 100, though others could probably give you more advice on this. Is your plan to use D-76 u...

Ornie (rodeo joe?):
Yet to read your response to the technical quality of Mr. Appleyard's photo. You seem to be avoiding responding to the term "usable" photograph, or satisfactory results, in the eyes of the photographer, or intended user of same. Why is this?

Re: 120 Tri-x @ 1600 in HC-110

Again, the term full tonal range. It is generally recognized that this is unachievable when pushing, though I must say that Appleyards photo using diafine was really fine-looking.

I just read something last nite that indicated the lady was t-max. differences in developing times may indicate a different target CI.
