I have a 1957 90mm f4 collapsible Elmar for my m2 and m6 : I got very good results, then found it had misted up inside; it cost £90 from Leitz Milton Keynes to clean out ! It's OK now.

Colour Processing: I do my own C41 negative work for urgent or experimental work but use BonusPrint for my holiday snaps when there are lots of films to process. I do not have the Nova heating unit; it is just as good and much cheaper to put plastic pots containing the developer, bleach and fix into ...

Whatever you do please TEST your flash gun as I find not all are accurate, even ones of the same make. I have three METZ 45's, two 45CT1 and one 45CL3 and one of the 45CT1 I was given needs the film to be rated at half the ASA (ISO) . Also, the 45CL3 seems to need one half stop more to get a decent d...

I have mentioned on this Forum before that I have tried the 'Modern Promicrol' which is a liquid concentrate from Champion Photochemistry (the Photo Division of May & Baker Ltd.) whose offices were down the road in my home town of Brentwood, Essex. I say 'WERE' because I have now found the offices a...

The 19th century process is'Bromoil' where the print (on a rough surface paper) is bleached out and special ink 'stippled' onto print to build up the image. It takes on parts where the print surface accepts it and 'skids off' where it doesn't accept it . Years ago in 'Practical Photography Magazine' ...

Pushing FP4

Years ago in 'Practical Photography' magazine they brought out the 'FFDD' technique ie Fast Film Dilute Development where you dilute ID11 1+4 and give the films about 40 mins at 60oF with not much agitation. I did get some good results on HP3 at the circus but have not tried it on moden FP4 emulsions.
