small tank fixer agitation question (newbie)

I am trying to process B/W 35mm film in a small tank (less than 250mL capacity) and still don't know enough. Currently I agitate the Fixer the same way I agitate the Developer. In other pursuits in life, I usually have failures when I make wild guesses like this. What are your recommendations, what ...
