Re: fine art prints

Some good, thoughtful replies here. B&W+Color can only publish what is submitted; therefore, it will feature what is submitted. Digital is the trend, so there you are. HDR seems to be the flavor of the day. I have not seen any that I like. It looks very contrived; fake. A lot of the post-process...

Re: Fuji 100 Acros & FX-55.

Looks like Ornello is baiting again, trying to bring the rodinal lovers out.

Re: fine art prints

maybe my question is premature. I will post it again in twenty years, when photos made with digital cameras and printed digitally, will have had time to "mature", so to speak. my reference was to prints from the likes of the westons, st. ansel, eugene adams, and so forth.

fine art prints

Was just wondering how digital generated images are selling in the galleries versus traditional film and wet darkroom images. Anyone got a feel for this?

Re: Legacy Pro from Freestyle

I believe one poster on apug may have had it right. I believe one poster on apug had it right. Freestyle had a chance to pick up some short dated 35mm from Fuji and was able to slit and package and still make a little profit. This stock is probably sold out now, and won't be replaced (until the next...

Re: Acufine as one shot: dilution? time?

Used to use Acufine quite a bit years ago as a one-shot developer. Seems I used it as 1+1 and 1+3 with similar results: a slight bump in ei, negs looked like d-76 product. Ornello's times sound about right. Worth a try but don't expect the silver bullet.

Legacy Pro from Freestyle

Did anyone notice that Legacy Pro 35mm film was not included in the new Freestyle catalogue? It is still on the website, but described as short-dated specials. Maybe Fuji decided that the rebranded stuff was cutting into the branded film too much and stopped the practice, at least to Freestyle.

Re: diexactol et al

Re: diexactol et al

apparently the barry thornton stuff isn't all that popular in the States. i have tried his version of d-23 two-part developer, but it doesn't seem to work any better than anything else. been getting satisfactory results with parodinal, beutlar's neofin, and good old d-76, also home made. thanx for r...

dont' know if this has been discussed before, but does anyone have any experience with this line of chemicals and derivitives? photogs formulary makes them sound like the proverbial silver bullet.

Re: 'Outdated Film' developer

Robert:

thanks for the info on Beutler. Have used it fairly regularly for past year or so, with good results. Works well with all film speeds, both new and old types.

Recently mixed my own d-76, and will soon be working up a new batch of parodinal.

pete:

always enjoy reading new formulae to play with. have some old neopan 1600 well out of date to try it on.

curious as to how many readers actually prefer to diy with raw ingrediants rather than off the shelf stuff.

the war zone

Been following the exchanges between scarpitti and De Fehr on Photo.net, and they are exhausting! My own thoughts are: nobody is entirely wrong. Each promotes his own brand of darkroom technique as he has "developed" it through the years. Obviously, all that matters is the end result, and ...

Old cut negs from 1930's

Was recently given a stack of old negs (about 75) that date back to the middle to late 30's. Subject matter was mostly of outings and picnics, etc, that included my wife's folks from their dating/early marriage years, as none of her or her sister are included. I contact printed about 15, and they tu...
