Well, Rodinol is my second-least liked developer. Haven't found the first yet. Have at hand Acufine, ID-11, and Diafine. Will probably use Acufine or Diafine: Acufine is my replacement for D-76, and Diafine isa possibility to control inherent contrast in slow films, though have only had mediocre suc...

another quandry
have a roll of 35mm agfa 25 (pre-apx) that has been hanging around my freezer for a number of years, cryin out "use me, use me." I think the time has come to put it out of its misery. I seem to recall that i had to expose this film at EI 12 to get a printable image out of this stuff. any r...

what's this stuff?
I have been researching these chems, and I guess what I have is bits and peices of toners, developers, etc., but not enough to put stuff together to use effectively. I may have to order chems in to complete the formulae to use. Can't even use the gold chloride. What a shame.

what's this stuff?
Some of it I have seen referred to in the formulary sections, but I don't know how they are used, in what. These were given to me by a shooter who is going into a retirement home, and closing up his darkroom. I got this stuff third-hand, so here goes: potassium persulfate diamenophenol potassium fer...

Ornello: Perhaps you should expand your web searches. This is an oft brought up topic on APUG. Jay: Thankyou for the formula. I will give it consideration, but if you don't think it is the best combo, oh well. Right now I have a good supply of Neopan 400 on hand and limited funds to pull in some new...

Thanks to you all for prompt responses. Jay, have found your answers to other peoples queries to always be quite straight - ahead, no bs. Would appreciate any guidance you can give. I do shoot medium format and and 35mm, Neopan 400 in both. (LF just doesn't suit my temperament). If your elixer would...

Alternative developers for stand development
Most advocates of this procedure recommend PC-tea, and other do-it-yourself formulae.
Does anybody else use developers such as D-76/ID11, highly dilute Acufine, etc.
I know Rodinal is also highly popular, but I have never had consistant success with it, so tend to avoid it.
TIA

don't know anything about the silvergrain stuff, as it is quite new. ryuji is probably the most knowledgeable chemist working with photoproducts these days, at least from what i have read on other forums. anyway, my standard paper dev is LPD from ethol. i recently got some PF 130 but haven't had a c...

back in the day, most cannisters were able to be reloaded, so it was poss-ble to pop one end off and extract your exposed film and save the can- nister for another day. now-a-days, i keep a crescent wrench in my drawer in the darkroom, and destroy the cannister removing the exposed film. rip and tea...
