Agreed. Wouldn't call him a photojournalist in the true sense of the word; he just wondered around with a camera in his hometown. Guys like Weegee did that, but had the knack to hunt down stories, not just images - Weegee was a true meat and potatoes news shooter. Don McCullin, Tim Page, Jim Nachtway, travelled, put themselves in harm's way to get photos. Others, like Zed Nelson, track down informative stories as documentaries.
Frank Hurley - now there's a photojournalist. I cannot help but get the feel HCB was merely a rich kid who was surrounded by people telling him his faeces doesn't emit an unpleasant odour, a common enough occurrence in the art world.
