Developing TMY as positive

Post by tornredcarpet »

Is this possible? Has anyone done this?
And if so? What about Acros or Delta 400 or even yet... TMZ (dramatic music)

Thanks.

The recommended product is to reversal process either Tech pan or Tmax 100.

You can do anything you want! If you want a special or specific result you should just test as many films as you can. See if anything looks like the result you were aming for. And then use that film.

You can reversal process TMax film to produce a positive image by using a developer designed specifically for this purpose. We sell a TMax Reversal Kit made by Photographers Formulary and available on this page (scroll down to "Reversal Process TMax"):

I don't have any experience with this formula, but you may find out more if you can locate a copy of the March/April 1988 issue of Darkroom Techniques, from which the formula has been derived.

Yes it's possible, but there are more suitable films for reversal processing:

Agfa Scala, Fomapan R100 and Rollei R3, all on real clear base and these films will survive a 30 minutes reversal process with no damage on the emulsion.

Here is an excelent article on it:

"Kehrt Um" Agfa Scala im Heimarbeit.
You can also mail RJR, also an APUG Member and English speaking. He's more or less a specialist on it, in the mean time

(The Fomapan R100 developer kit is commercially available. We are also carry it in our programm.)

Using higher speed film, in the reversal process will leave very low contrast. It can be done but the results will be poor.
